Brief

Set up a working hobby electronics bench. Document your kit, layout, and one safety-protocol document. Solder 20 joints and photograph the best + worst.

Deliverables

Photos of your bench (overhead view + closeup).
Tool list with what you bought + cost.
20 soldered joints, before/after comparison.
Written safety protocol (1 page) for your bench.

How we grade it

Bench is organized + lit well (functional).
Tool list matches Tier 1 (or justified deviations).
Joint #20 is visibly better than joint #1.
Safety protocol covers power, soldering, ventilation.

Hints

Don't buy gear you don't need. Tier 1 (~$200) is enough to start. Add Tier 2 when you're actively soldering.

Expected output

Bench photo: clean desk, lamp, DMM on right, breadboard center, soldering iron on left in holder, ventilation visible.

20 joints: first 5 messy, joints 10-20 progressively cleaner. Visible improvement.

Stretch goals

Photograph the same circuit in 3 light levels — note your debugging changes.
Build a perfboard version of an LED circuit (solder a permanent project).
Find an electronics workshop or makerspace; visit one to compare.
