You can hand someone a chart and a correct number and still be useless to them, because they are left asking 'so what?' The value you add is the interpretation and the recommendation - the bridge from a fact to an action. A number is an observation ('Saturdays average 380 dollars'); an insight tells them what it means and what to do ('Saturdays earn 30 percent less than Wednesdays, which suggests weekend foot traffic is low, so we should test a Saturday promotion before cutting hours'). This is the deliverable that actually gets you listened to. It is also where sloppy thinking hides, so we use a strict sentence pattern to force all three parts to show up, and AI to sharpen the wording without inventing facts.
Use this exact pattern: 'X, which means Y, so we should Z.' X is the fact from your data. Y is your interpretation of what it signals. Z is the recommended action. Worked example from the coffee shop: 'Saturdays average 380 dollars versus Wednesdays at 540 - about 30 percent lower (X), which suggests weekend foot traffic is weak rather than a pricing problem (Y), so we should test a two-week Saturday promotion before cutting weekend staff (Z).' Notice that X is strictly what the data shows, Y is clearly labeled as interpretation (it could be wrong, and saying 'suggests' is honest), and Z is a specific next step someone could take Monday. Compare to a non-insight: 'Saturday revenue is lower.' - that is just X, and it leaves the reader to do all the thinking. Now the AI step: paste your rough sentence and ask it to tighten it WITHOUT adding facts. Prompt: 'Here is my finding sentence: [paste]. Rewrite it in the pattern X which means Y so we should Z. Do not invent any numbers or facts I did not give you - only use what is here. Flag if my Y is a bigger claim than my X can support.' That last clause matters: AI will sometimes tell you your interpretation over-reaches the data, which is exactly the check you want. The output should be one sentence a busy person could read once and act on.
